Technical Project Manager
About the role
AXIAN Digibank & Fintech is looking to hire a Technical Project Manager in Dar es Salaam to plan and coordinate technical workstreams, vendors, and testing for core wallet and digital banking delivery programmes. Responsibilities: - Build and maintain detailed technical project plans for assigned workstreams. - Integrate technical workstream plans into the overall programme plan managed by the Programme Director. - Ensure technical activities, milestones, and deliverables remain aligned with the wider programme objectives. - Identify, document, and actively manage dependencies within the assigned workstream. - Coordinate dependencies across other workstreams, including: Product, Compliance, Data, Distribution, Operations, Customer Care. - Coordinate Core Wallet delivery teams and third-party vendors on a daily basis. - Track Statements of Work (SOW) deliverables and project milestones. - Monitor vendor performance and Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence. - Ensure delivery issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner. - Maintain Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) logs. - Identify potential risks and issues affecting project delivery. - Drive mitigation and resolution actions through to closure. - Plan and coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT). - Orchestrate User Acceptance Testing (UAT). - Coordinate performance and security testing cycles. - Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) teams, vendors, and business-unit teams throughout testing. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including: Project plans, RAID logs, Decision logs, Action logs, Meeting minutes, Change records, Other relevant project artefacts. - Manage resource onboarding, allocation, and offboarding across the workstream. - Coordinate internal employees, contractors, and vendor resources. - Ensure appropriate resources are available to support project delivery. Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or an equivalent field.
- Minimum 10 years of project or delivery management experience in technology.
- At least 3 years of experience in fintech, mobile money, digital banking, or telecommunications.
- Hands-on technical delivery experience with core wallet, core banking, or payments platforms.
- Proven track record of managing technical workstreams within larger transformation programmes, including integration delivery and data migration.
- Experience managing Tier-1 vendor delivery teams alongside third-party integrators.
- Experience working in African markets (preferred).
- Experience managing multi-country technology delivery (an advantage).
- Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong working knowledge of Waterfall project delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of Hybrid delivery models.
- Ability to select and apply the appropriate project delivery approach.
