Tank Farm Supervisor
About the role
Supervises tank farm operations at Dalbit’s Dar es Salaam depot, ensuring the safe receipt, storage, transfer, segregation and reconciliation of petroleum products across six storage tanks with a combined capacity of 120 million litres. Responsibilities: - Plan and execute product receipts, tank switching, pipeline line-ups, pump operations and ullage management across six storage tanks - Ensure the safe receipt, storage and transfer of petroleum products - Maintain strict product segregation to prevent contamination between grades - Verify pipeline line-ups and valve positions before product movement - Support receipt scheduling and tank utilisation planning - Coordinate with the Dispatch Supervisor and Operations team to ensure product availability and smooth depot operations - Maintain custody of petroleum products and accurate stock records - Conduct and verify tank dip readings and sign off on opening and closing stock figures - Provide daily product movement data to the Stock Reconciliation Officer - Investigate and escalate stock discrepancies, abnormal losses or gains - Maintain operational logs, product movement records and shift handover reports - Ensure compliance with HSSE standards, permit-to-work systems, standard operating procedures and EWURA licensing conditions - Maintain overfill prevention, bunding, earthing, bonding and emergency-response readiness - Supervise Tank Farm Operators, allocate duties and establish safety and operational standards - Coach, mentor and develop team members - Manage staff attendance, shift scheduling and performance - Liaise with the Technical Supervisor on tank, pump and pipeline maintenance and inspections - Coordinate with operational teams to support efficient depot operations and safe product handling How to apply: Use the subject line: "Tank Farm Supervisor Application". Key requirements
- Engineering or relevant technical education
- Petroleum tank farm or bulk storage operations knowledge
- Supervisory and team management skills
- Product receipt, gauging, pumping and pipeline operations skills
- Stock custody, reconciliation and record-keeping skills
- Knowledge of product segregation and ullage management
- Knowledge of EWURA petroleum storage licensing requirements
- Knowledge of HSSE standards and emergency response procedures
- Ability to identify and escalate stock discrepancies, safety concerns and product quality issues
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is advantageous
