Supervisor, Underground Mining (Production)
About the role
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML), a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, is looking for a Supervisor, Underground Mining (Production) to oversee shift workers and equipment usage in underground operations, ensuring safe, productive performance and workforce competence. Responsibilities: - Lead safe work practices by verifying critical controls, PPE and Take 5 compliance; conduct inspections, toolbox meetings, and manage incident reporting and investigations. - Deliver production to plan by supervising production drilling, slot raises and V30 holes, stope preparation, charging and bogging, with effective use of remote boggers. - Manage haulage and services by achieving truck cycle time targets, ensuring correct loading and level call-ups, scaling, services retraction, and installation of barricades and signage. - Maintain documentation and handovers by ensuring accurate PLODs and end-of-shift reports with clear status for the incoming supervisor. - Coordinate support functions with dispatch and lamproom for breakdown and delay capture, PPE distribution and stock control, and timely equipment meetings. - Uphold standards and environmental controls by maintaining roadways and sumps, enforcing housekeeping and waste segregation, controlling dust and spills, and respecting flora and fauna. Key requirements
- Completion of Secondary School Education; a Diploma/Certificate in Mining Engineering is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of exposure to the underground mining industry.
- Ability to operate underground machines with minimum skills as a service crew operator.
- Knowledge of explosives usage and management and work risk assessment processes.
- Valid Tanzania driving license and blasting license.
- Ability to read and understand work plans and mining instructions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach new employees.
- Physical and mental fitness for work.
- Ability to perform duties related to Underground Mining Production Supervision
