About the role
Volunteer opportunity with Selfless Solutions in Arusha. The Project Development Volunteer will be assigned to assist a specific children’s center in Arusha, Tanzania. They will spend approximately half of their time onsite and half of their time at the Selfless Solutions’ office. While onsite, they will be supervised by the center director or another appointed staff member. They will report to Selfless Solutions’ Volunteer Program Manager who will meet with them regularly. In addition to helping the volunteer address any issues that might arise during their time of service, the Program Manager is also charged with guiding the work of the volunteer and collaborating with them to accomplish their objectives. These objectives can be assigned by either the center staff or Program Manager, but they also often arise from the daily interaction and exchange of ideas between the volunteer and the center/Selfless Solutions staff. Although the volunteer will be given direction, they are expected to be self motivated, creative, and proactive. Through dialogue, they should seek to collaboratively identify what needs to be done to further the goals of the project and then take initiative to co create and execute strategies to address those needs. Project Development Volunteer Responsibilities The responsibilities and tasks of volunteers might include, but are not limited to: Identifying and initiating partnerships with potential collaborators (individuals, groups, companies, foundations, etc.). Identifying potential donors and proactively conducting fundraising efforts, such as campaigns and events. Collaborating with the Selfless team members to improve and grow the project (i.e. creating strategies for the project’s development, conducting needs assessments, data collection, writing reports, etc.), Assisting with monitoring project progress, monitoring day to day milestones, and helping with administrative tasks.
