Environmental Officer

About the role

Perseus Mining Limited is seeking an Environmental Officer to support environmental management, monitoring, regulatory compliance, and environmental performance across its large-scale gold mining operation in Sengerema, Mwanza Region, Tanzania. The role involves implementing environmental monitoring programmes and the Environmental Management System (EMS), including air, water, meteorological, noise, and vibration monitoring, as well as inspections, data management, reporting, and training. Responsibilities: - Promote and maintain personal and workplace health and safety, use PPE correctly, and report hazards and unsafe conditions to the supervisor - Support implementation of air, water, meteorological, noise, and vibration monitoring programmes across the mine site - Support implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) - Collect and analyse environmental samples, including water quality, dust, gaseous emissions, weather, noise, and vibration data - Maintain environmental equipment registers and calibration schedules and ensure monitoring equipment is serviced and calibrated on time - Submit environmental samples to external laboratories, ensuring proper preservation and completion of Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation - Prepare and conduct environmental communication and training for employees and contractors - Identify and report environmental incidents, non-conformances, and unsafe practices and propose corrective actions - Provide data for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental monitoring reports - Conduct planned and unplanned environmental inspections, prepare inspection reports and action plans, and track corrective actions - Participate in environmental audits, compliance assessments, community environmental grievances, and government joint sampling programmes - Review and update environmental monitoring plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Manage the in-house environmental laboratory, sampling equipment, and monitoring consumables - Download, upload, and maintain environmental monitoring data in the available database - Supervise environmental technicians and plan and coordinate their day-to-day activities How to apply: Applications should be submitted by email to perseus@globeconnect24-7.com on or before 19 October 2026. Key requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
• Computer skills in environmental management software or similar systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Acquire Database Software is required
• Knowledge of Tanzanian and international environmental management regulatory frameworks
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) implementation, audits, and HSE requirements
