Local Researcher / Fixer in Kenya Needed for Children’s Educational Book Project
About the role
We are looking for a local researcher/fixer based in Nairobi, Kenya, to assist with a small educational book project for children in Denmark. We are developing a series of short, easy-to-read books introducing Danish schoolchildren to the everyday lives of children in different African countries. The books will use real children, real families and documentary photographs. The purpose is not to focus only on poverty or problems. We want to show ordinary everyday life from a child’s perspective, home, school, food, friends, family, transport, chores, play, water, electricity and the local neighbourhood. Through these everyday stories, Danish children will also get a simple introduction to topics connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. What we need in Kenya We are primarily interested in meeting schoolchildren and families living in lower-income areas of Nairobi, as these are more realistic for us to visit during a short stay than families living far outside the city. We are looking for someone who can help us identify several possible children/families before we arrive. For example, a potential story could follow one child through an ordinary day:, getting ready in the morning, breakfast, travelling or walking to school, attending school, lunch, returning home, helping the family, playing with friends, doing homework, having dinner, going to bed We are particularly interested in everyday circumstances that may be different from those experienced by childr Pay on Upwork: Fixed budget $50.00 (fixed price).
