General Ledger Accountant

About the role

Dangote Cement Limited Tanzania, a subsidiary of Dangote Cement PLC, is looking to hire a General Ledger Accountant at its Mtwara Plant. The role sits in the Finance Department and supports the Finance Accountant in managing an accurate general ledger, including general ledger reconciliations and monthly balance sheet reviews. Responsibilities: - Ensure a reliable and accurate general ledger, with all relevant reconciliations, counts and clearings up to date, and a trial balance that properly reflects the business activities. - Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, reviewed and supported by appropriate schedules, with all reconciling items investigated and resolved on time. - Prepare, reconcile and resolve intercompany transactions and balances with group companies on a timely basis to ensure accurate group reporting. - Ensure provisions and accruals are properly done to reflect the business reality, and that all required journal vouchers are prepared, controlled, approved and booked on time. - Support the Financial Accountant in the month-end closing process and in preparing accurate and properly analysed monthly financial statements within the set deadlines. - Support the Financial Accountant in the year-end closing process and in preparing accurate and properly analysed year-end financial statements within the set deadlines. - Support the Financial Accountant in year-end audits and any other external audits from statutory bodies or internal audits, together with external surveys for statutory bodies. - Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, IFRS and regulatory requirements in the preparation and recording of financial transactions. - Review and analyse monthly account movements, investigate unusual variances and explain significant fluctuations to management. - Perform any other duties assigned by the FA, FC and/or CFO, including supporting the Financial Accountant in preparing the Finance department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Key requirements

• Graduate or equivalent with at least 3 years' experience in Finance and/or Audit.
• Professional accountancy qualification (CPA, ACA or ACCA).
• Sound understanding of basic computer packages and a good understanding of ERPs, specifically SAP (ability to be developed on SAP within one year).
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams across departments.
• Ability to learn fast and to work under pressure.
• Potential to progress into a higher role in the department and/or organisation.
