MLOps & Data Platform Engineer
About the role
AXIAN Digibank & Fintech is looking to hire an MLOps & Data Platform Engineer to build and run CI/CD pipelines, AWS infrastructure and containerised ML deployments for its data platforms. The role is open in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Lomé, Dakar and Antananarivo. Responsibilities: - Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data and ML model deployments across environments. - Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, RDS) using infrastructure-as-code principles. - Containerise and deploy ML models using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring reliability and scalability. - Implement monitoring, alerting and self-healing mechanisms for data pipelines and model inference services. - Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to streamline the path from experimentation to production. - Manage Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning and enforce cloud cost discipline. - Support data platform reliability across Tanzania, Madagascar, Senegal, Togo and Comoros. Key requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data, Cloud Computing or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, MLOps or Cloud/Data Platform engineering role.
- Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, tooling and pipeline development.
- Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar) in on-premises or hybrid environments, including query optimisation, scripted migrations and pipeline integration.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, EC2/ECS).
- Experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling.
- Comfortable with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar).
