Volunteering: Community engagement & MEL
About the role
Volunteer opportunity with The Oazi Project in Arusha. About The Oazi Project The Oazi Project organizes volunteer trainings on responsible volunteering, while running a traineeship program where Tanzanian women design and lead these experiences. By building on local perspectives, the trainings help international volunteers better understand the context they enter, question their assumptions, and engage more thoughtfully. In this way, Oazi supports respectful collaboration, genuine connection, and more meaningful contributions between volunteers and communities. What will you actually do? We are looking for someone to build meaningful connections and turn reflections into data driven insights. Community Engagement: Networking with integrity: Develop a thoughtful community engagement strategy for The Oazi Project by identifying how we build respectful relationships with volunteers and local partners in Arusha, based on trust, consistency, and genuine connection. Onboarding & introduction : Design and build an “Internal welcome package” for new Oazi volunteers so they understand our values, expectations, and how to engage respectfully from day one. Reflective storytelling: Share honest experiences from workshops and activities and help introduce interested volunteers to upcoming trainings. Weekly insights: Create a weekly reflection post for social media and provide feedback to The Oazi team on common questions, hesitations, or themes emerging within the volunteer community. Monitoring, Evaluation, & Learning (MEL): Impact tracking: Collect structured volunteer reflections and feedback, tracking attendance and participation so we can better understand the impact of our programs. Trend analysis: Identify patterns in volunteer experiences and summarize what is working well and what needs improvement. Workshop evaluation: Support simple pre- and post workshop comparisons to evaluate how participant mindsets are shifting. Continuous learning: Organize follow up sessions to ensure the impact of our training lasts long after the workshop ends. A person with: A mission driven heart: You want to help us and others build a world where everyone feels seen and valued. Relevant fields include Marketing, Human Resources (HR), Social Sciences, Psychology, International Development, Education or Cultural Studies. Exceptions can be made. What do we offer?
