About the role
About the Role Provides legal advisory, litigation management, contract support, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and legal risk management services for AngloGold Ashanti’s Geita Gold Mine operations in Tanzania. Responsibilities Provide legal opinions and practical advice on exploration, mine development, financing, construction, permitting, mining operations, security, human rights, sustainability and commercial activities Monitor legislative, judicial and regulatory developments and advise Management on required actions Support engagements with government authorities, the judiciary, regulators and other stakeholders Draft, review and advise on commercial agreements, service contracts, procurement documents, contractor agreements, employment-related documents, policies and other legal instruments Participate in contractual negotiations and provide legal risk assessments and contractual safeguards Coordinate Board and committee meetings, prepare meeting packs, record minutes and maintain corporate records Support statutory filings and monitor corporate governance and statutory obligations Coordinate applications for permits, licences, approvals, consents and authorisations and liaise with relevant authorities Identify material legal risks, recommend mitigation measures and maintain legal files, litigation registers, contract records and compliance trackers Prepare, review, draft and coordinate pleadings, applications, affidavits, submissions and other legal documents Support litigation strategy, evidence management, external counsel coordination, court cases and other dispute resolution processes Uphold professional ethics, confidentiality, legal privilege and company governance, risk management and compliance standards Requirements Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university in Tanzania or overseas Law School certification and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania At least 10 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in a leading organisation; mining industry experience is an advantage A Master's degree in Law is an added advantage Legal and regulatory expertise in Tanzanian law Knowledge of mining rights, mineral development, permitting and mining operations Understanding of employment law, labour relations, disciplinary procedures, grievance handling and employment disputes Knowledge of corporate governance, Board procedures, company records, statutory registers and directors' duties Proven litigation and disp How to apply Submit your application online through the official AngloGold Ashanti careers portal (Requisition ID: 31864): https://careers.anglogoldashanti.com/job/Geita-Sr_-Specialist%2C-Legal-Tanzania-Geit/1453626533/ About AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania The mission and purpose of AngloGold Ashanti's operations in Tanzania, as represented by the Geita Gold Mine, appear to be focused on operating with high compliance and social responsibility, while leveraging local talent through significant Tanzanian workforce representation.
